¨ Economic Security To connect individuals and families to resources and opportunities that will improve their economic security and potentially build assets that will help them move towards long-term self-sufficiency. ¨ Community Development To improve the living conditions in the community, enhance the quality of life for residents, and strengthen community resources or services for individuals and families. ¨ Advocacy & Community Involvement To mobilize individuals and families, enabling them to become connected and involved in the development and improvement of their community and empowering them to fulfill their civic responsibilities. ¨ Partnerships To improve the delivery of community services, enhance the quality and variety of services to individuals and families by encouraging strong communication, cooperation, and the sharing of information among agencies and community partners. ¨ Agency Capacity & Accountability To increase and maintain the agency’s capacity to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate quality programs that will increase customer services and produce long-term results. ¨ Family Development To strengthen families and other support systems, especially for populations that are most vulnerable, and make available positive educational, social, and health interventions in order that children, individuals and families will succeed in school and life. Economically disadvantaged persons on the lower Eastern Shore face a multitude of challenges day-to-day. Individuals in need of employment or skills training may enroll in the programs offered by our Office of Training & Employment. Our goal is to increase financial independence for those who face obstacles to employment. Older persons and those who are in ailing health may take advantage of the programs offered by our Office of Health Care & Senior Citizen Services. The goal of these programs is to provide seniors with enriched personal lives and to avoid or delay nursing home placement. The Office of Children & Family Services is dedicated to ensuring that the educational, social and nutritional needs of children in economically disadvantaged families are met. The goal of our Office of Community and Family Development is that safe and sanitary housing not be an unreachable goal for low-income families. With assistance from SHORE UP!, those who want to have a home of their own or maintain their current home can attain their dream. |
