SHORE UP! Inc. offers several programs that address the needs of pregnant women, children ages birth to 5, and the parents of these children.  Some

The Office of Employment and Training concentrates its efforts on providing services to aid employable persons in moving toward self-sufficiency, building self-confidence, finding gainful employment and providing services that may lead to gainful employment.  All training programs offer instruction in job-readiness skills and help with job placement.

Health Assistant Training:

A 7-week program that trains participants to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA).  Includes classroom and hands-on experience.

Job Program for Youth (Job Start):

A 40-week training for adjudicated youth ages 16-19. Students work on advancing in their Adult basic Education (ABE) level or work  toward obtaining their General Equivalency Diploma (GED.  Also includes training in interpersonal skills, as well as job readiness and job skills.

Senior Employment (Foster Grandparents Program):

Eligible seniors ages 55+ receive a tax-free stipend as they work part-time with children, whether it be working one-on-one with a child needing extra help, helping teachers in pre-school classes, or watching children in day care while parents take job training, etc.

Adult Education (ABE/GED):

Offers participants a chance to increase their Adult Basic Education (ABE) level and/or to work towards a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).  Students work at their own pace using individualized, computer-based instruction. Instructors help students with their work and monitor their progress.
